Program Description

"Unlike a curriculum that may only address bullying within the classroom and for a limited period of time, OBPP addresses bullying at schoolwide, classroom, individual and community levels. The program has been found to reduce bullying among children, improve the social climate of classrooms, and reduce related antisocial behaviors, such as vandalism and truancy. The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program has been implemented in more than a dozen countries around the world and in thousands of schools in the United States."

Cost

"To bring the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program to your school: One coach, aka First Coach, will be trained per school building for $3,925 (fee includes the OBPP subscription). Only one subscription per school building is required. Other coaches, aka Additional Coach, from the same school building may attend the course for $2,925." The Community Youth Organizations (CYO) Coach Coarse costs $3,870 per participant.

Research Summary

Several peer-reviewed research articles examining the effects of the Olweus Bullying Prevention program found positive effects on student bullying behaviors. Specifically, reductions in physical, relational, and verbal bullying behaviors, and improvements in school climate and relationships were identified. In the studies reviewed, those examining the long-term effects of the program found that the positive effects were maintained after implementation
