Research & Evaluation
Research Summary
According to What Works Clearinghouse, Corrective Reading (Beginning Reading) was found to have potentially positive effects on alphabetics and fluency. No effects were found on reading comprehension. Corrective Reading was found to have no discernible effects on the alphabetics, reading fluency, and comprehension domains for adolescent learners. A systematic review article found that in several case studies, children receiving the Corrective Reading program had meaningful gains in student performance, though could not be compared to a control group due to the methodology used.
