Research & Evaluation
Research Summary
In a literature review, two peer-reviewed research studies and an independent research report were found. One qualitative study of 16 Teammates mentees found that generally, mentees had positive views of their mentor and identified their mentor as a source of social and emotional support. One quantitative study of 511 students in Nebraska found that overall, mentees had positive perceptions and strong trust in their mentors. Parents and teachers in this study also generally had positive perceptions of Teammates mentors. An independent report involving 370 Nebraska students found that the Teammates program had a significant effect on school engagement and self-efficacy compared to a control group, but found no statistically significant effects on overall well-being.
