Program Description
"The High 5s project studies an innovative effort to extend the academic gains made with high-quality preschool math education into longer-term educational attainment. It leverages the groundwork laid in Making Pre-K Count (MPC) to test the claim that preschool gains can be prolonged with a targeted program that continues to boost skills in kindergarten." Students meet in small-groups for targeted math instruction for approximately 28 weeks.

Research & Evaluation
Research Summary
One study found that students who participated in both Making Pre-K Count and High 5s programs experienced positive effects on both math and broader measures, although the results were not statistically significant for the latter. Another study suggests that the math enrichment programs may produce lasting improvements across various outcome areas. However, since the studies are not peer-reviewed, there is currently insufficient evidence to endorse the program.
