The Road to Continuous Improvement: Sustaining an MTSS Framework
Part 4: Competency Drivers: Staff Support
The Nebraska Multi-tiered System of Support (NeMTSS) team has developed a four-part webinar series to guide and support the implementation of critical components of an MTSS framework for continuous improvement.
The series directly aligns with the NeMTSS Framework Document and consists of four parts: NeMTSS Teaming Structures, Leadership Drivers, Organization Drivers for Data-Based Decision-Making and Competency Drivers for Staff Support.
The fourth and final part of the series, Competency Drivers: Staff Support, is now available. Visit our media library to explore all four videos in the series.
Part 4: Competency Drivers: Staff Support
The Competency Drivers: Staff Support webinar includes five different chapters in one video that introduce key features of staff support that drive continuous improvement.
Viewers will learn about how to support staff through various methods, including:
- Selection-Educator Effectiveness
- Professional Learning
- Coaching
- Fidelity
The chapters in this video will journey through competency drivers from the beginning stages of staff selection-effective educators, explore how to develop knowledge, skills, and practices through high-quality professional learning, and finally sustain these drivers through coaching and fidelity checks. The NeMTSS Essential Elements are embedded throughout each component of competency drivers. Guest speaker, Julie Downing, from the Nebraska Department of Education SEED team will briefly discuss the Nebraska Teacher and Principal Performance Standards. Through these competency drivers, educational leaders can ensure their staff feel competent and supported in their work, which ultimately leads to transformed educator practices and improved student outcomes.
Tips for watching the videos
- Individual viewers, as well as teams, can benefit from watching these videos to strengthen their leadership skills.
- Viewers should plan to spend about 10-20 minutes per chapter watching and reflecting on the content in each video.
- It is recommended educators watch the webinar in chapter order to understand the key features of how leadership drives continuous improvement. However, each district/school can choose to watch the series in the order that best fits their continuous improvement needs, and will benefit from watching all chapters.
Why should districts/schools watch?
By creating this series and sharing it with Nebraska educators, the NeMTSS team aims to support schools working on continuous improvement through the use of a strong multi-tiered system of support.
