New Structure Supports Districts & Student Success

The Nebraska Multi-tiered System of Support team is excited to announce a new chapter in our commitment to supporting districts and ensuring the success of all students. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve NeMTSS supports, we are evolving our approach to better meet the needs of school districts across the state.

In the past, each of our regional support teams included a regional support lead, an early childhood implementation facilitator and an SEBL specialist.

This fall, the team will transition to a streamlined, more collaborative model with each NeMTSS regional team comprised of:

  • A regional support lead and
  • An integrated support specialist

The regional teams will be supported by the full strength of the NeMTSS leadership team. This new structure will work to align NeMTSS supports with additional targeted supports provided by other technical assistance projects within the Office of Special Education.

This transition will allow us to maximize resources, expertise and collaboration in ways that directly benefit districts, schools and students. We anticipate these changes will be fully implemented by September 2025.

What Does This Mean for Our Schools?

  • Broader expertise: By utilizing the diverse skills and knowledge of our entire leadership team and other statewide technical assistance partners, districts will have access to a wider range of resources, expertise and best practices in supporting student success across all tiers.
  • Efficiency and flexibility: This new structure is designed to be more responsive and flexible, adapting to the evolving needs of each district. The leadership team will work closely with the regional support lead and integrated support specialist to provide the right support at the right time, ensuring that every district can meet the needs of all students..
  • Sustained growth: This shift enables us to invest in long-term growth and sustainability for districts, creating lasting systems of support that will benefit educators, students and communities for years to come.

Together, Stronger Than Ever

With this refined model, Nebraska is reaffirming its commitment to building strong, sustainable systems of support for all schools. We are confident that this new structure will lead to deeper partnerships, enhanced collaboration, and, most importantly, improved outcomes for every student across our state.

We are excited for this opportunity to work with you as we continue our shared mission to provide an equitable and supportive education for all Nebraska students. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future.
