Program Length
10 weeks. First 5 weeks consist of small group sessions with students (once a week for 45-60 minutes or twice a week for 30 minutes), twice daily check-ins with a mentor, and adult training. The remaining 5 weeks consist of continued check-ins and availability for consultation with adults.
Program Description
Grounded in cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT) and ecological systems theory, this intervention aims to promote the use of skills that can prevent or disrupt negative thought patterns and strong emotional responses for students at risk for internalizing problems. The intervention also provides students with twice daily check-ins with a mentor and resources and trainings for teachers, school staff, and parents giving adults the skills and language required to prompt student use of skills.
